WEBSITE PRIVACY COMMITMENT
Purpose of this Website Privacy Policy
AnnexTrading.ca along with its parent company, Annex Trading Inc., who are identified throughout this Privacy Policy as “AT.ca” or “we” respect the privacy of your personal information and we recognize that consumers have concerns about the privacy of their personal information and security on the Internet. While the Internet has revolutionized the way we can interact with you, it is by definition not entirely secure and presents unique challenges. This Website Privacy Policy is intended to provide you with information for making decisions when choosing to access this particular website and to participate in activities on this website. This Website Privacy Policy may be revised from time to time. Please check here periodically.
Summary of Privacy Commitment
AT.ca will generally obtain your consent to collect, use or disclose your personal information for certain purposes, which will be summarized for you at the time of collection or otherwise in this Website Privacy Policy. Consent may be expressed or implied depending on the sensitivity of the information. You may also provide your consent where notice has been provided to you about our intentions with respect to your personal information and you have not withdrawn your consent for an identified purpose, such as by using an "opt out" option provided, if any. We may collect, use or disclose personal information without consent in special situations where consent may not be appropriate. An example of such a special situation would be where we are permitted or required by law to collect, use or disclose the personal information without consent. AT.ca will take appropriate safeguards to protect the security of personal information in its control. AT.ca will take steps to help ensure, through contractual or other means, that third parties with whom it deals in respect of your personal information only use the personal information for the purposes for which consent was given and that the third party provide a comparable level of protection to that which AT.ca would provide. Finally, on reasonable notice, subject to certain exceptions, you are entitled to access or correct your personal information and to withdraw your consent. This is meant to be a summary for your assistance. Please read below for further details of AT.ca's privacy practices in respect to this website.
Types of Information and Purposes
AT.ca does not require you to provide any personal information to simply access or view this website although we do monitor traffic to our website and we use cookies (see "Traffic Patterns and Cookies" below). However, if you decide to voluntarily participate in certain promotions, contests, products or services offered on or through this website we may ask for certain personal information about you. The types of personal information that we may ask for, and the purposes for which it may be used, include:
- Name and contact information, including address (for example, to qualify you for a contest which may be open only to residents of certain provinces), telephone number and e-mail or text-messaging address (for example, to notify you if you have won a contest).
- other information you may provide, such as your gender, interests and your opinions (i.e. which products on AT.ca do you most prefer) in order for AT.ca to bring to you promotions, events, products and services in which we believe you would be most interested.
- credit card information (when we offer products which may be purchased by credit card).
We may also collect information about you when you interact with us electronically, such as through our website or social media sites, when you click on our online advertising or open or click on a link in an e-mail message that we sent to you. We may collect personal information from third parties, where you have consented and for the purposes for which consent was given. Generally this would mean contacting you about promotions, products and services which we believe you would be interested in and for purposes otherwise consistent with those described in this Website Privacy Policy.
If you consent AT.ca will also collect and use your personal information as described below in "Tailored Communications and Advertising Policy"
Other Purposes
Traffic Patterns and Cookies
Every computer on the Internet has a unique address called an Internet Protocol ("IP" Address). An IP address is just like a telephone number in that it is a long string of numbers. IP addresses are automatically assigned to all Internet users by their Internet Service Providers (ISP). However, since it would be difficult to remember everyone's IP address, the Internet allows you to type in an easy to remember name, i.e. a domain name or e-mail address which corresponds to the IP address. So, instead of typing 1.23.45.67.89, you can use Annextrading.ca. And other Internet users contact you by using your e-mail or domain name address instead of your IP address.
When you use the Internet, your IP address, as well as other information is automatically logged by web servers. For example, our servers record information such as IP addresses, operating system, number, time and duration of visits, web pages requested and domain names and browser types. These are statistics which we use in aggregate form to improve the content and navigation on our website. We do not in the normal course link server log information to other personal information in order to identify individual visitors. However, for your protection we may review server logs for security reasons. For example, we may need to detect or track unauthorized access to our systems. It is possible that in the context of a criminal or legal investigation (or in the case where our website offers certain services, for example, an e-mail or chat-room service, and a person may be in violation of the terms of use of such service) our server logs may need to be shared with appropriate authorities and ISPs may be requested to disclose the person behind the IP address.
We use "cookies", a common Internet technology which provides you with tailored navigation and content on the relevant corporate or brand (e.g. www.Annextrading.ca) website based on your navigation history and preferences. Cookies may be sent to your browser's temporary memory system to assist you in navigating during a particular session only. Or a cookie can be sent to your hard drive in order to serve you better when you return to the website (for example to recognize you when you return to the website or when you visit another website, to save your password and to offer you customized content we believe will be of interest to you). You can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie giving you the opportunity to accept or to refuse it. See "Help" in your browser. Deleting or not accepting cookies will not prevent you from accessing this website or participating on the website. However, if you do not employ the technology your navigation may be less convenient or personalized given the purposes for cookies.
Your Customized Profile
By reviewing your navigation habits on our website and other websites, and the personal information you provide or that we may collect from other sources, we have a better understanding of your preferences, needs and interests. We can then develop a customized profile for you in order to provide you with the optimum site experience, to serve you advertisements that are tailored to your interests, and to contact you about products, events, promotions and services in which we believe you would be most interested.
Third Party Advertising Networks
We may use third party advertising networks to display advertising on our website or other websites. These advertising networks use cookies or similar technologies to track your navigation habits on our website and third party websites in order to serve you advertising that is customized to your inferred interests and preferences. For example, a cookie may be placed on your computer when you visit our website, which is recognized and used by third party advertising networks to serve you with an AT.ca ad when you visit other websites within their advertising network. As described above, you may be able to set your browser to refuse cookies or to notify you when a cookie is sent. If you refuse cookies you may still receive online advertising; however, it may be less personalized. Some advertising networks participate in the following industry programs that include web pages to visit to opt out:
Network Advertising Initiative: http://www.networkadvertising.org/choices
Digital Advertising Alliance: http://www.aboutads.info/choices
Credit Card Data and Verification
If you choose to purchase products or services that require a credit card, AT.ca and third party credit card processors will collect and use your credit card information to process the transaction you have made on this website. For your protection, we do not maintain credit card information on file subsequent to transaction processing. This means that for subsequent transactions, you will be required to re-enter your credit card information.
We may ask you to create a password to which we will have access. This is for your protection to protect against error and fraud and to verify your identity.
Managing Our Business
We collect, use and disclose personal information to manage our business, for example to manage and administer promotions and contests (including contacting potential winners), to manage and process requests for goods or services, to manage and update customer accounts, to manage services which may be offered on this website and which are subject to Terms of Use (for example, e-mail, chat rooms, auctions) to verify your identity, to collect a debt, as permitted or required by laws and regulations and to ensure the security and processing of information. Authorized employees, agents and mandataries of AT.ca who require access to your personal information in order to fulfill their job requirements will have access to your personal information.
We may use and disclose personal information to parties connected with the contemplated or actual financing, insuring, sale, assignment or other disposal of all or part of our business or assets, including for the purposes of determining whether to proceed or continue with such transaction or business relationship or fulfilling any records or other reporting requirements to such parties. We will require such parties to treat your personal information in accordance with this Website Privacy Policy and to use and disclose it only for the purposes for which it was collected.
We may transfer personal information to outside agents or services providers ("service providers") that perform services on our behalf, for example marketing and advertising, contest administration, information technology, data hosting and processing, website hosting and similar services or otherwise collect, use, disclose, store or process personal information on our behalf for the purposes described in this Website Privacy Policy. Some of these service providers may be located outside of Canada, including in the United States, the European Union and Brazil, and your personal information may be processed in these countries for the purposes described in this Website Privacy Policy. Reasonable contractual or other measures we take to protect your personal information while processed by these service providers are subject to applicable legal requirements in Canada and in these foreign countries, for example, lawful requirements to disclose personal information to government, national security and regulatory authorities in certain circumstances.
Retention
AT.ca will retain your personal information as long as necessary for fulfillment of the purposes for which it was collected or as required by law. For example, AT.ca may be subject to legal requirements with respect to the retention of documents such as contest ballots. You may also choose to receive services on this website which are subject to their own terms of use including those related to retention. For example, if you choose to register for an e-mail service or e-commerce account and your account remains inactive for a defined period of time, your account and/or personal information may be deleted.
Website Security
AT.ca takes reasonable security measures (physical, organizational and technological) to safeguard personal information against loss or theft, or unauthorized access, use, disclosure, copying or modification. However, the Internet is not a secure medium. If you choose to communicate with us online, the privacy of your communications and personal information can never be guaranteed. AT.ca has no control over the practices of others (for example, websites to which this website is linked; people who misrepresent themselves as you or someone else).
Links to Other Websites
We cannot assume any responsibility for the privacy practices for websites (other than AT.ca websites) to which this website is linked. You should review the privacy policies of all websites (including those of other AT.ca sites) to which this site may be linked.
INQUIRIES AND WITHDRAWING YOUR CONSENT AT ANY TIME
We may establish and maintain a file of your personal information for the purposes described above, which will be accessible at our offices. AT.ca is responsible for personal information under its control and has designated a Privacy Officer who is accountable for AT.ca's compliance with this Website Privacy Policy. If at any time you have any questions about this Website Privacy Policy or your personal information and how it is being used, collected or disclosed (including if you wish to request access to or correction of your personal information), or you wish to withdraw your consent to "Tailored Communications and Advertising Policy", please do not hesitate to contact us at sales@annextradinginc.com .
CHANGES AND UPDATES TO THE PRIVACY POLICY
From time to time, we may revise this Website Privacy Policy. To help you stay current of any changes, we take the following two steps: (i) we note the date the Website Privacy Policy was last updated above; (ii) we post an indication of such changes on the homepage of the website next to the link to this Website Privacy Policy. Your use of the website following the posting of any revised Website Privacy Policy shall be deemed acceptance of the revised policy, so we strongly recommend that you review this Website Privacy Policy periodically. If, and only if, we make revisions to the Website Privacy Policy that result in a material lessening of the restrictions on our use or disclosure of your personal information, we will make a commercially reasonable attempt to obtain your consent (whether express, implied or using an opt-out method of obtaining consent) before implementing such revisions with respect to such personal information.
TAILORED COMMUNICATIONS AND ADVERTISING POLICY
If you indicated your consent to receive tailored messages, advertising, content and offers from AT.ca, AT.ca may collect, use and disclose your personal information for the purposes described in this section, which are in addition to the purposes described in the above AT.ca Website Privacy Policy.
Tailored Advertising and Communications
AT.ca collects personal information directly from you, including your name, contact information, date of birth and expressed preferences and opinions (e.g. brand preference). AT.ca may also collect information about you based on your visits and interactions on our website. If you consent, we may also collect information about you from third party websites, such as social networking sites, where you are a registered user. For example, we may share a cryptographic hash of your e-mail address with a third party website or service provider (by using the hashing process, your e-mail address is never disclosed to the third party). If the hashed e-mail address from AT.ca matches the hashed e-mail address from the third party website, the third party identifies you as part of a group of individuals to whom AT.ca ads should be served on its website. The third party or service provider may also return certain information about you to us, which is obtained from your profile on the third party site (such as your age range, interests, gender and location: for example, male, age 25 to 35, from Thunder Bay) as well as your social network ID, if applicable. We use this information to develop a customized profile about you in order to serve you tailored advertising when you visit third party sites, to provide you with the optimum site experience when you visit our site and to contact you about products, events, promotions and services in which we believe you would be most interested.
